BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 3, 2019) – Rollins had the tying run on second in the ninth, but couldn't get him across the plate and fell to Lynn 6-5 Sunday in the school's Sunshine State Conference series rubber match.
Rollins (9-6, 1-2 SSC) dug out of an early 3-0 hole to tie the score 5-5 in the seventh. Lynn (10-6, 3-3 SSC) got the go ahead run in its half of the seventh and kept the Tars at bay the final three frames.
Tate Stone-Frisina took the loss, allowing one run and one hit with three walks and two strike outs in 1.2 innings. Garrett Leonard threw the first five frames, surrendering five runs, four earned on four hits.
Rollins out-hit its hosts 12-5 on the day.
Alex Ojeda went 2-2 with two RBIs to lead Lynn. Cal Bocchino went 1-3 and knocked in a pair.
Lynn scored three in the fourth to grab an early advantage. The Tars responded with three in the fifth to pull event 3-3. Reidy and LaFontaine both had RBI singles with Reidy also scoring on an error.
Anthony Sanabria homered for the Fighting Knights in the fifth and Ojeda knocked in James Buckley to put Lynn on top 5-3.
Rollins got one back in the sixth with Brendan Brundage scoring on a passed ball.
After the seventh-inning stretch, Lynn manufactured the go ahead run with Ojeda bringing in Sanabria. The Tars were then unable to get anyone across the plate and lost their first SSC series of the season.
