WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2019) – A day after a three-hit, five RBI game against Malone, Cameron Montgomery went 3-4 with two homers Saturday, leading Rollins in a 10-2 win over Assumption.
The second-straight win moves the Tars to 11-7 on the year while the Greyhounds fall to 7-4.
Montgomery also scored three runs as part of his monster day, highlighted by a solo shot to left in the third and a blast over the left field wall in the fifth.
Starter Jimmy Robbins picked up the win, tossing a solid seven innings and allowing two runs and six hits while racking up 14 strikeouts.
MacGuire O'Sullivan was tagged for the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, in five innings of work. R.J. Libby led the Assumption bats, hitting 2-5. Derek Adamson and Hunter Tralli both knocked in runs.
Rollins jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first two innings as Sam LaFontaine, Hintz, Isaiah Russel and Brendan Brundage all had RBIs. Montgomery's first homer made it a 5-0 lead before Assumption plated tow in the fourth.
Gonzalez and Montgomery blasted back-to-back homers in the fifth to push Rollins lead to 7-2.
Cameron Meehan scored on a passed ball in the sixth and Hintz capped off the night with a solo homer to left in the eighth.
