WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2019) – After surrendering three runs early, Rollins scored five in the second inning and didn't give Nyack any slack beating, the Warriors 10-6.
The Tars (13-7) are riding a four-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 43-13 in the span.
Tate Stone-Frisina threw five innings and allowed four runs on four hits, walking none and striking out seven to pick up the win for the Tars. Ross Korosec, Whitt Drennan and Anthony Trovato also threw as the Tars scattered just seven hits on the day.
J. Bean III took the loss for Nyack (1-8-1), allowing five runs and six hits over the first two innings. Austin Fischer and Gabriel Vasquez had two hits each for the Warriors.
Rollins committed three errors in the top of the second, allowing three Nyack runs to come across.
Kyle Hintz got the scoring going for the Tars in the second with an RBI to score Luke Reidy, LaFontaine brought in Eddie Ayala and Cameron Meehan filed out to centerfield for an RBI that scored Herron, and then Hintz and LaFontaine scored on a wild pitches. Tars picked up five to get on top 5-4.
Herron doubled down the left field line in the third to score Ayala and LaFontaine knocked in Herron, putting the Tars ahead 7-3.
Ayala made it an 8-3 lead in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch, and was followed by a Herron score.
Rollins added another in the seventh when Herron took advantage of a Warriors errors.
Nyack scored two in the ninth, but Trovato closed the door to preserve the Tars win.
