WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 12, 2019) – Rollins allowed three runs in the top of the ninth and dropped a 6-3 decision to Saint Leo on Friday night.

The Tars fall to 20-13, 8-8 Sunshine State Conference while Saint Leo improves to 18-18, 7-9 SSC. Friday's game opened up a key, three-game SSC series between the two old rivals.

Sam LaFontaine went 1-4 on the day with two RBIs and a homerun. Brendan Brundage batted 1-4 at the plate and deposited the first homer of his college career over the fence.

Whit Drennan took the loss, pitching in four innings with six strikeouts and allowing four runs. Starter Tate Stone-Frisina threw the first four innings with two strikeouts and allowing two runs. Anthony Trovato also retired the three batters he faced in an inning of middle relief.

Peyton Isaacson hit 3-4 on the day with one RBI for the Lions. Danny Torres had a 4-4 night at the plate with two RBIs.

Joey Antonopoulos earned the win, throwing a scoreless eighth while Petyon Isaacson got the save for throwing in the ninth. McCabe Sargent started, pitching seven innings with nine strikeouts.

Saint Leo scored the first run in the top of the second with Brett Coffel scoring on a wild pitch by Stone-Frisina. Rollins fell into a 2-0 hole with  Issacson hitting a double to centerfield for Amir Wright to score.

LaFontaine tied the score 2-2 in the third with one swing of the bat, driving a homer to left field, also scoring Kyle Hintz.

Brundage's solo shot in the fourth put the Tars ahead 3-2.

After back-to-back singles to lead off the top of the seventh, Jacob Reimold hit into a double play, but a runner scored, knotting the game at 3-3.

In the top of the ninth, Mike Wyman brought in Issacson for the go-ahead score and the Lions tacked on two more after a Torres double.

Down three runs in the bottom half of the ninth, the Tars put one on base, but were unable to come up with the big hit.

The Tars will be back Saturday April 13 with a Tars vs. Lions doubleheader. First pitch for game 1 is 1 p.m. with the nightcap to follow. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
