Tars Blanked by Eagles in Home Finale

WINTER PARK FLA. (May 5 2019) – Rollins and Embry-Riddle were locked in a pitcher's duel for most of the afternoon Sunday before the Eagles offense got hot and the Tars fell 4-0 in the home finale.

Rollins drops to 25-21 overall and 12-15 in Sunshine State Conference action while ERAU moves to 28-18 and keeps its chances at a league title alive at 17-10 in the conference.

The Tars could only muster two hits on the day against Eagles' pitchers and didn't get anyone past second base until the ninth inning. Nick Santucci went 1-4 and Brendan Brundage hit 1-2 with a stolen base to lead Rollins.

Jimmy Robbins took the loss, throwing six solid innings with seven strikeouts. He only walked one and allowed one run on four hits.

Troy Naab earned the win for ERAU, allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. Dominic Jeancola picked up the save. Kirk Sidwell and Josh Reynolds both went 2-4 to lead the Eagles' bats.

The two teams played to a stalemate the first six innings until ERAU broke through with three runs in the seventh, highlighted by a Sidwell leadoff homer. They then added an insurance run in the top of the ninth and the Tars couldn't answer.

Rollins will conclude its 2019 season May 9-11 at Florida Tech. First pitch for the first two games is set for 1 p.m. with a noon start for the finale. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
