MELBOURNE, Fla. (November 20, 2017) – For the first time in his distinguished career, Rollins senior Sam Philpott has been named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
The fifth-year senior has been on a tear to start the season, leading the team and ranking third in the SSC with 24.3 points a game.
Philpott led the Tars to a pair of Sunshine State Conference wins last week. Against Florida Tech, he pumped in 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, just one off his career-high. Rollins won the game 83-72 for its first conference victory of the year.
On the road at Lynn, the Noblesville, Indiana native scored 24 and handed out four assists. He shot 8-of-14 from the field and knocked down 8-of-10 at the stripe. His effort led the Tars to an 82-76 road win over the Fighting Knights.
Rollins next hosts Puerto Rico Bayamon and Florida Memorial before the Thanksgiving holiday. The Tars against UPRB is set for November 21 at 7 p.m., followed by a Wednesday, November 22 matinee at 2 p.m. against FMU. Both games take place inside Warden Arena in Winter Park.
