WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 2, 2019) – Facing the top scoring offense in the nation, Rollins defense held its own but came up short, falling to fifth-ranked Nova Southeastern 92-65.
The Tars dropped to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in Sunshine State Conference play while NSU improves to 11-0, 5-0 SSC.
David Dennis recorded 24 points and 10 assists to lead NSU. Eddie Puisis scored 17 off the bench and Connor Zinaich scored 15. Mikkel Kolstad (11 pts) and Mark Matthews (10 pts) gave the Sharks five double digit scorers.
Rollins shot 45 percent in the game, but the Sharks hit 59 percent from the field, including 16 three-pointers. Rollins was also beat on the glass 38-25, but turned the Sharks over 21 times while committing 19 turnovers.
The Tars went shot for shot with the high-powered Sharks as a Parker Davis jumper tied the score at 17 with 13:10 left in the first. NSU then caught fire over the next seven minutes and put the Tars down 44-24 with 5:58 left.
Rollins trailed 54-36 at the half.
The Tars deficit was 18 with 15:12 to play, but they quickly slipped behind 77-48 with 10:20 left. Rollins would get no closer than 26 the rest of the way.
