MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (February 16, 2018) – Four Tars scored in double figures, but Rollins offense couldn't match Barry on Saturday, falling 76-61 on the road.
Rollins (9-16, 3-14 Sunshine State Conference) shot a season-low 22 percent from the three point line, going 8-of-36 from distance and 20-of-63 from the field.
Barry (14-9, 9-7 SSC) got 22 points and eight rebounds from Tylan Birts. Daniel Mortensen and Marco Tomic both scored 12.
The Bucs shot 46 percent from the field and outrebounded Rollins 46-32.
The first half was played close, featuring 11 lead changes and four ties over the first 15 minutes; neither team led by more than three points during the span. Connor Mckim hit a three-pointer with 5:15 left in the half to put Rollins up 24-23. Barry answered with a 7-2 run and grabbed a 30-26 advantage. The Bucs would later take a 39-31 lead into intermission after a Mortensen three-pointer at the horn.
Barry seized control early in the second, outscoring Rollins 12-4 over the first five minutes and going up 51-35.
After going down by as many as 22, Bonner went on a personal 9-1 run and pulled the Tars to within 66-53 with four minutes to play. The junior later made it a it a 10-point game with 67 seconds to play, but Tomic iced the game at the line for the Bucs.
