NORMAN, Okla. (August 24, 2018) – After appearing in the top-25 all of last season, Rollins men's golf checked in at No. 14 in the Bushnell Golfweek Division II Preseason Poll, it was announced Friday.
Rollins closed the regular season at No. 10 and qualified as the No. 7 seed in the Division II South/SE Regional. The Tars finished 13th in the tournament that featured five of six national championship quarterfinalists.
Last year's national runner-up West Florida topped the poll while defending national champion Lynn is second. Barry, Florida Southern and Florida Tech round out the top-five.
As a testament to the strength of the Sunshine State Conference, seven league schools are ranked among the nation's top-14. Each of the last seven NCAA Division II National Championships belong to SSC teams.
The Tars return four of their top-five golfers from a year ago and will again look to make a run deep into the NCAA postseason. The Kiawah Island Invitational Sept. 17-18 starts Rollins 2018 fall slate, followed by the Flagler Jay Jennison Cup Sept. 24-25. October starts with the TVA Credit Union Invitational in Florence, Alabama and closes with Rollins' own McDonough Cup at Rio Pinar, Oct. 29-30.
