ORLANDO, Fla. (October 29, 2018) – Rollins and Wingate are tied for the McDonough Cup lead after playing the first 36-holes on Monday.
The Tars grabbed a two-stroke lead with a first round 289 and shot 295 in the afternoon to sit eight-over with 584 strokes. The Bulldogs shot 296 to open and then charged five-spots up the leaderboard with an even-par 288 to match Rollins at eight-under for the event.
Rollins is serving as host of the 18-team tournament at Rio Pinar Golf Club in Orlando.
Columbus State is third at 12-over while Newberry sits fourth a stroke back at 13-over. Missouri-St. Louis and Erskine are tied for fifth with 15-scores scores of 591.
Morgan Egloff is tied for seventh to lead the Tars. The reigning Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Week is even-par for the event, shooting a two-over 74 to open and coming back with a two-under 70.
Trystan Perkins is tied for 12th at two-over with rounds of 70-76. Mason Fox carded scores of 71-77 and is tied for 20th while Will Hall is tied for 26th with scores of 74-75. Justin Karlins is tied for 33rd with rounds of 76-74.
Louis Charpentier leads a quartet of Tars competing as individuals, posting rounds of 73-76 to grab a tie for 26th. Marc Holzahuer is tied for 58th with rounds of 75-79, Nicholas Diebel is tied for 75th (78-81) and Michael Pergamo is 97th with scores of 90-78.
Jordan Doull of Columbus State leads the field at seven-under after scores of 67-70. Jonathan Noble of Queen's and James Henderson from Missouri-St. Louis are both two-under and tied for second.
The final round of the McDonough Cup is set to begin at 7:44 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31 with the first set of individuals. Rollins will tee off on No. 1 beginning at 9:28 a.m. Fans can follow the action with hole-by-hole scoring at GolfStat.com.
