DADE CITY, Fla. (April 14, 2019) – Rollins shot an opening round 301 Sunday to grab a tie for sixth after day one of the Sunshine State Conference Championship.
The Tars matched Embry-Riddle at 13 over for the first day and trail fourth-place Florida Southern by six strokes. Nova Southeastern posted a six-under 282 to leads the way with Barry in second at four-under. Saint Leo and Lynn are tied for third at six-over.
Tampa is serving as host at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City.
Will Hall leads the way for the Tars, shooting a two-over 74 to sit tied for 15th. He was two over at the turn and posted a birdie-4 or the 10th to get to one-over before taking a bogey on No. 17.
Nicholas Diebel and Trystan Perkins both hung three-over rounds of 75 and are tied for 22nd. Diebel started with a bogey, but got back to even with a birdie on No. 7. The freshman then played the back at three-over. Perkins was one-under after a birdie-two on the fourth and posted 10 pars and four bogeys the rest of the way.
Mason Fox had an up and down day and is tied for 36th with a five-over 77. His card showed one double bogey, seven bogeys, six pars and four birdies. Morgan Egloff is tied for 38th with a six-over 78. The junior was cruising at the start, sitting one-under after seven holes and hitting the turn at one-under. He then played the back at seven-over to slip down the leaderboard.
Nova Southeastern's Juan Jose Guerra shot a 67 on Sunday to lead the field while teammate Martin Larea and Barry's Daniel Faccini are second at three-under.
