Senior Secures First Player of the Week Nod of His Career after Career High Game
MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 5, 2018) – After holding the No. 9/10 team in the nation to just eight goals over the weekend, Rollins men's lacrosse senior goalie Andrew Hoemann has been named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced, Monday.
The Bellingham, Wash. native held the Crusaders off the board in both the first and fourth quarters, helping the Tars to tie the score at 7-7 in the final quarter of regulation to send the game into overtime. Hoemann came up big in the first OT period with a save to keep Belmont Abbey at bay, again holding them scoreless throughout the first four minutes of extra time. The Crusaders were able to secure the victory with 1:05 remaining in the second overtime period, but not before Hoemann posted up a career high 12 saves while allowing only eight goals in 66:55 minutes of action. The senior earned a save percentage of .600 and has a goals against average of just 7.17.
Rollins takes to the road to Wheeling, W.V. to take on the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals on Sunday, February 18. The Tars and Cardinals are slated to face off at noon at Bishop Schmitt Field. Links to live coverage of the game will be available on RollinsSports.com once available.
