Jackson and Brush Become Program's First Ever USILA Scholar All-Americans
WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 11, 2018) – Rollins men's lacrosse graduated seniors Austin Jackson and Lucas Brush earned a program first as they were named to the 2018 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) Division II Scholar All-American Team, organization officials announced Monday.
The selections mark the first time a Rollins men's lacrosse player has been recognized on the USILA Scholar All-American squad.
Jackson earns the first USILA DII Scholar All-American nod of his career, adding to his 2018 First Team All-Sunshine State Conference honors in April. The Dublin, Ohio native was named to the 2018 Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll for his efforts in the classroom. Jackson was also a force to be reckoned with on defense, consistently shutting down his opponents throughout his senior campaign. The defender concluded his senior season seeing time in 14 games, earning 13 starts, and earned 22 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
Brush also earns the first USILA DII Scholar All-American selection of his career, and adds the accolade to his 2018 First Team All-SSC honors. The native of Dublin, Ohio wrapped up his senior campaign with 48 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, and two goals on the season. Brush started all 14 games throughout his senior season, and was second on the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers. The short stick defensive midfielder put in hard work on the field, as well as in the classroom, as he was named to the 2018 Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll for his academic success this past semester.
A total of 23 student-athletes were selected on the Division II Scholar All-American squad for their efforts both on the field and in the classroom this season. Joining Jackson and Brush from the Sunshine State Conference are Jake Gilmour and Jake Bye from Saint Leo, as well as Luke Posner from the University of Tampa.
