After opening up their season setting program records against Savannah College of Art and Design, the Rollins men's lacrosse team sets their sights on NCAA action as they head to North Carolina to take on Wingate University in regional action.  The Tars and Bulldogs have faced off against each other eight times since their first matchup in 2008, with Rollins trailing the all-time series, 3-5.  Saturday's matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN 3, and will have live stat coverage, with links to both offerings available on

Rollins enters into Saturday's matchup with a record of 1-0 after taking down the Savannah College of Art and Design Bees by a final score of 25-4 on Sunday, February 17.  Rollins opened their 2019 campaign in a big way, setting new program records for team points, goals, and assists in a game as they saw a total of 23 different players contribute to the team's 40 points as they put up 25 goals and 15 assists.  Leading the Tars in scoring on the day was senior Greg Taicher with a game high five points as he notched one goal and a game high four assists.  Ryan Dunn made his collegiate debut count scoring a game high four goals, followed by sophomore Joey Cinque with a hat trick of his own.  Freshman Nick Coppola notched the first goal of his collegiate career and tacked on one more for two on the afternoon, while Jackson Buell, Kyle Portera, Eric NeCamp, Parker Mosack, Finn Jent, Bailey Pringle, and Peyton Miller matched Coppola in overall points as they all registered one goal and one assist. Evan Schimek, Drew Miller, Dave Gollenberg, Rocky Harpin, Brandon Carlin, Colin Hall, Cam Reeves, and Nate Gillan all scored one goal apiece, while Tommy Keane, Travis Miller, Adam Scalisi, and Ford Johnson all dished out one assist on the day.  At the faceoff-x, Rollins saw Cam Reeves lead the way, winning 12-of-13 attempts and earning five ground balls.  Kyle Sudol followed, winning 7-of-9 attempts with four ground balls, followed by Jake Jones winning 7-of-10 with three ground balls.  Matching jones in ground balls was Schimek with three.  In goal, Senior Landon Salie earned the win, facing 10 shots and earning four saves while allowing only three goals in 30 minutes of action.  Ty Wedekind and Will Eckert split time in the final two quarters.  Wedekind earned three saves in the third quarter as he faced six shots, allowing only one goal, while freshman Will Eckert made his debut as a Tar earning one save while facing two shots in the fourth quarter and holding the Bees off the board for the final 15 minutes of play.

Wingate, who checked in at No. 20 on the second USILA/New Balance and Warrior Division II Poll of the season, enters into Saturday's game with a record of 1-1.  The Bulldogs opened their season with an 11-8 win over North Greenville on February 9, followed by a 14-8 loss at the hands of Mercyhurst on February 16.  After two games played, Wingate is led in goals by Alex Llerandi with six, followed by Ryan Ormerod with four.  Dominic Piazza leads the team in assists with five.  James Kotcamp has earned a team best 17 ground balls as he as won 27-of-46 faceoff attempts, with a win percentage of .587.  Sean Moran has notched a team best three caused turnovers, followed by Reese Orman, Connor Thompson, and Mike DiLegge with two apiece.  In goal, Alex Cordero has played a full 120 minutes, facing 68 shots in his time on the field.  Cordero has a save percentage of .389 as he has earned 14 saves while allowing 22 goals, for a goals against average of 11.00 after two contests.


  • Rollins trails the all-time series against Wingate, 3-5.  When playing at Wingate, the Tars are 1-2 overall. 
  • The first match-up between the two teams was on March 5, 2008.  Rollins fell to the Bulldogs by a final score of 14-2.
