The No. 20/16 Rollins men's lacrosse team opens up Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday morning, when they travel to the Space Coast to take on the Panthers of Florida Tech.  Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.  Individuals who are not able to support the Tars in person on Sunday afternoon will be able to follow all of the action live with a broadcast on the Tars Sports Network, as well as with live stats on

The Tars cracked into the national polls this week after winning their fifth straight, including a 12-8 win over then-No. 20 Colorado Mesa on March 13.  Holding onto an overall record of 6-1, the only contest the Tars have dropped this season was to then No. 20 Wingate by a score of 11-10 in double overtime.  After seven games played, the Tars are led by Ryan Dunn with 20 goals, followed closely by Greg Taicher with 18 goals of his own.  The duo swaps places in the assists category, with Taicher leading with 11, and Dunn adding eight of his own.  Kyle Sudol leads the team in ground balls with 32 as he has won 52-of-82 faceoff attempts so far this season.  Cam Reeves follows with 23 ground balls while winning 45-of-70 faceoffs so far this year.  Harrison Bluestein and Evan Schimek have both earned 17 ground balls this season, followed by Chase Snyder with 16.  Leading the team in caused turnovers is Schimek, with 18 so far this season.  In goal, Will Eckert has played 172:46 minutes between the pipes.  The freshman has earned 24 saves in his time on goal, notching a save percentage of .545, and has allowed just 20 goals, averaging 6.95 goals per game.

Florida Tech has played five games this season, and are riding a two game win streak.  The Panthers' lone loss of the season came against Catawba on Saturday, February 23, when FIT fell to the Indians by a score of 12-8 on their home field.  FIT enters into Saturday's game having won back-to-back games against Lenoir-Rhyne (12-10) and Nichols (24-6).  After five games played, Logan Sweeney and Reid Chaconas lead the team with 12 goals apiece.  Sweeney also leads the team in assists with 10, for a season high 22 points so far this year.  Tommy Bowser follows with seven assists, an adds five goals for 12 points so far this year, which is matched by Brad Schillinger with eight goals and four assists.  Ryan Land leads the squad in ground balls with 37 as he has won 72-of-112 faceoff attempts.  Addison Abramson follows with 32 ground balls, and leads the team in caused turnovers with 10.  Dan Flock has seen the most time in goal for FIT, playing a total of 304:47 minutes in cage.  Flock has faced 179 shots, earning 70 saves while allowing 43 goals for a save percentage of .619 and a goals against average of 8.47.


  • Last time out against the Panthers, the Tars were unable to take down then-No. 18 FIT in a hard-fought SSC contest, falling to the Panthers by a final score of 14-12 on March 31, 2018. 
  • Rollins leads the all-time series with the Panthers, 4-3.
  • After his performance last week, senior defender Evan Schimek was named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as well as to the USILA DII National Team of the Week.
