SET-UP:
The Rollins men's lacrosse team is primed and ready to welcome their longest standing Florida rival on Wednesday evening at Cahall-Sandspur Field when they host No. 14/16 Saint Leo in a South Region and Sunshine State Conference showdown.  Game time against the Lions is set for 8 p.m.  Fans who are unable to attend the game will be able to follow all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network and on the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network, as well as with live stats on TarsStats.com.

TRACKING THE TARS:
Coming off back-to-back hard fought conference losses to Florida Tech and Lynn University, the Tars will face yet another test as they welcome the Lions to their home turf.  Rollins enters into the game with a record of 6-3 overall and 0-2 in SSC action, and are riding a two game skid.  However, when playing in the friendly confines of Barker Family Stadium this season, Rollins is currently 2-0 overall.  After nine games played, the Tars have put up 128 goals, averaging 14.22 per game, and have added 73 assists.  Rollins averages 32.8 shots per game, and own a shot percentage of .328 as a team.

Ryan Dunn leads the team in goals with 27, and has added a team second best 10 assists for 37 points so far in his inaugural campaign with the Tars.  Leading the team in overall points is senior Greg Taicher with 23 goals and a team high 16 assists for 39 points so far this season.  In the Tars' last game at Lynn University, Taicher became the program's all-time leader in both points and assists, and is just four goals away from becoming the program's all-time leader in goals scored.  Behind Dunn and Taicher, Joey Cinque has netted 16 goals, followed by Tommy Keane with 12.  Kyle Sudol has earned 34 ground balls so far this year as he has won 59-of-109 faceoff attempts, followed by Cam Reeves with 28 ground balls as he has 54-of-100 from the faceoff-x.  Evan Schimek has earned 25 ground balls, ad leads the team in caused turnovers with 22, while Wyatt Todd and Harrison Bluestein have totaled 22 and 20 ground balls, respectively.  Bluestein has been solid on defense, adding 10 caused turnovers so far this season.  After taking over the starting position a few games back, freshman goalie Will Eckert has played a total of 292:46 minutes in cage, earning 45 saves while allowing 47 goals.  Eckert has notched a save percentage of .489, and enters into Wednesday night's matchup with a goals against average of 9.63. 

TRACKING THE LIONS
Rollins welcomes the reigning NCAA DII Men's Lacrosse Runner's Up to Cahall-Sandspur Field in a key conference and regional matchup.  Riding a three-game win streak, the Lions of Saint Leo University checked in at No. 14 on the USILDA/Warrior and New Balance DII Poll, and No. 16 on the NIKE/US Lacrosse DII Top 20 this week.  The Lions hold onto a record of 7-3 overall, and are unbeaten in SSC play with a mark of 2-0.  So far this season, the Green and Gold has put up 169 goals, averaging 16.9 per game, while adding 92 assists.  The Lions are averaging 46.6 shots per game, and hold onto a shot percentage of .363.

Charlie Kurtenbach and Philip Buque both lead the Lions with 31 goals so far this year, with Kurtenbach adding a team-leading 21 assists for 52 points in 10 games.  Bugue has added 10 assists of his own, totaling 41 points so far this season. Jordan Williams boasts a team best 62 ground balls, and leads the team with a faceoff win percentage of .549 as he has won 118-of-215 attempts.  Defender Ethan Ticehurst has won 36 ground balls, and leads the team in caused turnovers with 16, followed by Julian Taylor with 11.  In goal, Thomas Tatarian has started and played in eight contests, playing a total of 470:43 minutes in cage.  Tatarian has faced 332 shots, earning 93 saves while allowing 92 goals, owning a save percentage of .503 and a goals against average of 11.73.

  • Taicher's assist on the first goal of the game moved him into first place in program record books in both career points (131), and career assists (44).  After his three goal, three assist performance, Taicher now has 136 career points, 46 career assists, and 90 career goals.  He is now just four goals away from becoming the program's all-time leader in career goals scored.
  • With 62 career caused turnovers, Evan Schimek is 16 away from becoming the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers in a career.  Schimek needs to surpass Nick Scannapieco `13, who concluded his career with 77 caused turnovers.
