OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (March 30, 2019) – The Tars men's crew team traveled to Oklahoma city with the women's team to compete against Oklahoma City Rowing.

The Varsity and Novice 4 were able to race three times on Friday with the final being a 500 meter sprint under the lights.

"This was a cool experience and one that many rowers never have a chance to do," said head coach Shawn Pistor. "Morning practices in the dark is a norm, but not in racing."

The Varsity 4 (Emma Battle, Connor Stolp, Michael Pakuris, Jose Fernandez, Cameron Boyd) was not able to defeated OKC in any of the races, but the Tars Novice 4 (Mia McKay, Jose Fernandez, Timothy Edwards, Cameron Harris, Jake Wheeler) swept its competition.

In each battle, the Tars were able to get an early lead and keep their opponents safely in their vision behind them.

"This trip was a great experience for our young team and they look forward to racing at FIRA next Friday and Saturday in Sarasota," added Pistor. "These races will paint a good picture on what the rest of the season has in store the rest of the way."
