Men's Soccer Fifth in NSCAA Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (August 7, 2014) - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2014 Division II Preseason Rankings for men's soccer on Thursday, with Rollins tabbed fifth.

The 2014 preseason rankings were initially announced on Thursday afternoon.

Rollins was ranked inside the top-ten all of last season, rising as high as No. 1 the final week of the year after a 16-0 start, and finished fifth in the final NSCAA polls.

The Tars captured a top-seed in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and earned a bye into the round of 16. Rollins defeated West Florida to tie a team record with 17 wins, set in the 2009 season, before eventually falling to Carson-Newman in the National Quarterfinal.

Southern New Hampshire opens at No. 1 after a 22-1-1 season a year ago, followed by Carson-Newman at No. 2 and Simon Fraser sits third. Rockhurst checks in at No. 4 in front of Rollins to round out the top-five.

The Tars open with exhibitions in late August against Jacksonville and North Florida before starting the regular season at home against Anderson on Sept. 4, part a stretch of six non-conference match-ups to open the season.
