No. 3 Rollins rebounded Friday night from a tough loss earlier in the week, using a late goal to defeat No. 18 West Florida on the road.
With the win, the Tars improve to 2-1 while the Argonauts fall to an even 1-1.
Senior Rob Crowley was the lone goal scorer in the game, increasing his already team leading goal total to three on the young season. Rollins keeper Julian Grundler recorded his first career clean sheet, playing the full 90 minutes and made one save.
Rollins outshot UWF 8-3 in the first half but the Argos battled in the second half, taking 12 shots compared to the Tars' six.
The game was locked in a scoreless tie through half and then deep into the second period until Crowley broke the tie from a seemingly impossible angle. After dribbling deep into the far side of the box, the senior was able to somehow slice a shot past UWF keeper Stuart McCrory to give Rollins the 1-0 lead in the 74th minute.
The Tars defense held on the final 15 minutes to secure the win.
Rollins will take a short break before playing Alabama-Huntsville in Pensacola on Sunday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m. EST.. Fans can listen live to all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com
