ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Last time out, the Tars won their third straight match on Saturday night, defeating Eckerd, 2-1, on the road in conference play. The Tars narrowly outshot the Tritons, 16-15, for the game but took 10 corners compared to Eckerd's two. Tosan Popo and David Kuckkahn provided the offense, both with a goal each, with Grant Blackhurst and Tomas Coulter recording assists. Popo has now scored in two straight games. In goal, Parker Sweeney made his third straight start, improving to 3-0 after playing the full 90 minutes and recording a career high six saves.
Entering the weekend, Rollins is third in the SSC in goals (26), goals per game (2.00) and points (83).
Individually, Brett Durrance is tied for fourth in the conference in goals with six, while Rob Crowley is tied for eighth with four. Skyler Russel is alone in second in the SSC with a team best, seven assists.
In goal, Sweeney and Julian Grundler have combined for a 1.47 goals against average with 57 saves and three shutouts.
The winningest coach in Rollins soccer history, Dr. Keith Buckley is in his 24th year at the helm of the Tars program in 2014. His career record of 283-134-25 is the 34th best in the history of NCAA Division II men's soccer and ranks 21st among active coaches. In the past decade, Buckley's Tars have won four Sunshine State Conference Championships, three SSC tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament eight times.
TAMPA AT A GLANCE: Last time out, the Spartans were defeated by Eckerd by a final score of 2-0 on Tuesday night. Tampa concluded the game outshooting Eckerd 21-8 as Keith Francisco, Bay Downing and Chris Campbell led the way with three each. Reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Week Zak Downes recorded three saves in goal for the Spartans.
As a team, Tampa is eighth in the SSC in scoring offense, averaging 1.40 goals per game, but are second in the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 0.90 goals per match.
Campbell, Fancisco and Nikolai Hammer are tied for eighth in the SSC with four goals each while Craig Laird leads the team and is tied for 11th in the conference in assists with three.
In goal, Zak Downes is second in the conference in shutouts (7) and leads the SSC with 79 saves.
Adrian Bush is in his 10th season at the helm at The University of Tampa after starring for the Spartans as a player from 1990-94. Bush was named the program's fifth head coach prior to the 2005 season following the untimely death of his mentor, Tom Fitzgerald.
LAST MEETING: Rollins defeated Tampa, 3-2, in double overtime back on Oct. 4 of last season.
