MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 4, 2017) – Rollins swept the season's first Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week awards with Damian Clarke and Drew Trautmann each getting honored it was announced Monday.
Behind a three-goal weekend, including the game winner against the nation's top team, Clarke was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Trautmann earned the defensive POW nod for his work between the posts.
Clarke netted his first goal of the year in the Tars' season-opening draw with Lees-McRae. The junior had a breakout night against No. 1 ranked Wingate, tallying two scores and leading Rollins to a 2-1 road win. He scored the first in just the fourth minute and netted the game winner in the 88th minute.
Trautmann racked up eight total saves and allowed just four goals in 210 minutes of action. He had two stops against Lees-McRae, including on a penalty kick in the second overtime to preserve the tie. The following day against Wingate, he was superb with six saves, two of which came with the score tied in the second half.
Rollins will be back in action on Friday, September 8 when they open the home schedule against West Florida at 7 p.m. ET, followed by a contest against Spring Hill on Sunday, September 10 at 1 p.m. Fans can follow all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
