PENSACOLA, Fla. (September 9, 2018) – The No. 25 Tars asserted their dominance, defeating Spring Hill, who received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches National Poll, 4-0, in Mobile, Alabama. The Tars improve to 4-0-0, while the Badgers pick up their first loss, and fall to 3-1-0.
Stefan Avram again paced the Tars attack, netting a pair of goals. Damian Clarke finished the afternoon with one goal and one assist. Cyrus Siminou was the first Tar to find the back of the net on the day, picking up his first score of the 2018 campaign. George New added to his team leading assist total with another helper. Junior Logan Laskey and Freshman Christian Adams each earned their first points in the Blue and Gold; Laskey dished out one helper, while Adams had two. Eidur Ivarsson made five saves, holding his first collegiate clean sheet. For the Badgers Cyril Giraud put two shots on frame to lead the attack, and Alessandro Erdelyi made three saves in net.
After a scoreless first half Siminou found the net 10 minutes into the second frame. The senior rose up to head in a George New free kick. Avram doubled the Tars advantage in the 62nd minute, putting his head on the end of a Clarke cross. Avram collected his second brace of the year in the 75th minute, on a goal assisted by Adams and Laskey. Clarke then registered a goal of his own just three minutes later, with Adams tallying another helper. Rollins coasted home for the final 13 minutes, remaining perfect in the 2018 season.
The Tars will return home on Tuesday, September 11, when they will take on Southeastern at Barker Family Stadium at 6 p.m.
