Tars Suffer Setback Against Lynn

WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 26, 2018) – The Tars suffered their third consecutive loss, and find themselves still in search of their first Sunshine State Conference victory following a 5-0 defeat to Lynn.  Rollins falls to 6-3-0 overall, and 0-3-0 in SSC play.  The Fighting Knights improve to 5-2-0, and 2-1-0 in conference action.

The Tars managed five shots and put one on target.  Damian Clarke had two efforts toward net, while Stefan Avram tallied Rollins only shot on target.  Abdiel Martinez made two saves, playing the full 90 minutes in net for Rollins.  Will Coutts led the Fighting Knights with a goal and an assist.  While Shay Brennan, Nils Borner, Lukas Hombach, and Bruno Sanitz also tallied.  Niklas Tasky, Martin Drobits, and Jack Watson also recorded assists for the Fighting Knights.  Roberto Bazzichetto registered a save for Lynn, in 90 minutes of play.

Lynn's first goal came just before halftime when a bouncing ball in the box fell to the feet of Drobits, he found Borner, who curled the ball into the back of the net.  The Fighting Knights started the second half with a flurry, and put the game out of reach. Coutts carried the ball across the top of the box before slotting the ball by Martinez for the second goal, in the 49th minute. Brennan took a looping Tasky pass and converted a one-on-one opportunity for the third Lynn goal just one minute later. An efficient give and go near the top of the box gave them a fourth at the 58 minute mark, as Hombach found the side netting after a pass from Coutts.  Sanitz volleyed in a shot with just three minutes left on the clock to cap off the scoring.

Rollins will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 29, when they head to Fort Lauderdale for a matchup against Nova Southeastern.  Kickoff against the Sharks is set for 6 p.m.
