SAINT LEO, Fla. (October 17, 2018) – Rollins stayed alive in their quest for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament with a 2-1 win over Saint Leo. The Tars improve to 9-5-0 overall, and 3-5-0 in SSC action. Saint Leo remains winless in the SSC as they fall to 3-11-0 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
Max Muecke and Kevin Da Rocha Figueira each tallied their second goals of the season to lead the Rollins offense. Damian Clarke tallied his second assist, and his eighth point of the year, second highest total on the squad. TJ Brubaker made his third start of the year, stopping four shots in the full 90 minutes of action. Jack Astill registered the Lion's goal. Wessel Berenschot made two saves in goal for Saint Leo.
Muecke tallied in the 23rd minute to put Rollins in the lead. A low cross came in from out wide and was flicked up to the top of the box while Muecke gathered the ball and slid it by the Saint Leo keeper. The Lions would equalize with just four minutes left in the half when Astill found a loose ball and put in the top far corner from a tight angle. Da Rocha Figueira would take a pass from Damian Clarke just five minutes into the second 45. The junior would rip the ball into the top corner for the game winner. Rollins would see out the final 40 minutes for the conference victory.
The Tars will play their final home game on Saturday, October 20, against Embry-Riddle. Kickoff against the Eagles is set for 2 p.m.
