KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 9, 2019) – Rollins Men's Soccer has been named a United Soccer Coaches 2018-19 Team Academic Award Winner, the organization has announced.
The Tars finished the year with a 3.46 combined GPA. This is the second consecutive Academic Award for Rollins men's soccer, and the programs sixth all-time recognition. Rollins is one of 259 schools that had both the men's and women's teams collect the recognition.
A total of 999 college teams earned the Team Academic Award. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year.
Rollins finished the season at 10-6 overall, and 4-6 in Sunshine State Conference action, and narrowly missed postseason action. Senior defender Andre Nansen highlighted the squad with a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District Award.
The 2019-20 incarnation of the Tars return to action tonight, Wednesday, October 9, at 7 p.m. when they host Saint Leo at Barker Family Stadium.
