TEMPE, Arizona (January 18, 2017) – The Tars men's tennis team sits at No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations opening team poll for the 2017-18 season, it was announced Wednesday. The Tars are up eight spots from where they finished the 2017 campaign, making the jump from No. 24.

The Tars will be looking to improve on last year's 11-12 record, which included a fourth place finish in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, and a NCAA Tournament berth. The Tars graduated two seniors, but return 10 players, including All-SSC Second Team honoree Sami Kirberg, and All-SSC Honorable Mention recipient Cody Gubin. Rollins will also turn to five new comers, who will look to make an impact on the court in their first seasons in the Blue and Gold.
University of West Florida, the reigning National Champions, capture the No. 1 spot, while SSC rival Barry sit second. Columbus State, Valdosta State, and Azuza Pacific round out the top-5.
The Tars schedule features 10 teams ranked in the poll, including six of the top-10 squads.
Rollins will open their campaign by visiting Division I Stetson on Saturday, February 3. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
