ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 7, 2018) – The No. 16 Tars visited the No. 11 Flagler Saint in an inter-region battle.  Ultimately the Saints edged the Tars, defeating Rollins 5-in a hotly contested match.  Rollins falls to 0-2 on the year, while the Saints improve to 2-1. 

Rollins was in the lead at the end of doubles play, taking the matches out of the first two positions.  Nicolo De Fraia and Guillermo de Nicolas-Ruiz won the first position match 8-6.  Sami Kirberg and Daniel Ferl made easy work in the second spot, with an 8-3 victory.  The Saint only win came in a hard fought 8-5 decision in the third position. 

Flagler managed four singles victories to pull off the come from behind win.  The Tars got wins in the first and third spots.  De Fraia continued moved to 2-0 in singles play on the year with a three set victory over  No. 38 Lukas Storck.  The Cagliari, Italy native lost the first set, but recovered for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.  Sami Kirberg earned his first singles win of the year in similar fashion.  The third position match went to the Tars 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.  Daniel Ferl also fell in his opening set, and rebounded to win the second, in the fifth spot, but he could not complete the come back falling 6-3, 5-7, 3-6. 

Up next the Tars host No. 6 Lynn to Winter Park in their first Sunshine State Conference match.  First serve is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, at 11 a.m.
