De Fraia Stays Undefeated, But Tars Fall to Lynn

No. 16 Rollins – 2
No. 6 Lynn – 7

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 17, 2018) – Despite battling the sixth ranked Lynn Fighting Knights for most of the match, Rollins fell 7-2.  Nicolo De Fraia did stay undefeated in singles play on the year.  Rollins drops to 0-3 in the 2018 campaign, while the Fighting Knights improve to 5-0.

The Tars got a lone doubles win in the second position.  Atakan Gezer and Ziad Melhaoui combined for the victory, just edging out Jose Porfino and Kay Bartmann 9-8, and 8-6 in the tiebreaker.

Rollins would battle on every court, with two Tars falling in tiebreakers, on courts three and four.  However, the Tars only break through on the scoreboard came from De Fraia who earned a three set win over the No. 25 singles player in the country Kay Bartmann.  The Cagliari, Italy native took the first set 6-4 before dropping the second 3-6.  The junior then turned it on and dominated the third set, winning 10-1.

Rollins will return to the road, as they travel to St. Petersburg next Thursday, February 22, to face off against another SSC opponent, Eckerd. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
