PREVIEW: Tars Ready for Warriors and No. 25 Clippers

Rollins continues their nonconference home stand, after battling Division I Furman last time out.  The Tars welcome Concordia out of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to open the week.  They will then turn their attention to match against Wayne State from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Nicolo De Fraia continues to roll in the top singles spot for Rollins, who have earned a combined for a 21-21 singles record on the year.  The junior is 7-0 in the top position, including three wins over nationally ranked players.  Last time out he defeated the No. 110 player in the Division I poll in straight sets.  Sami Kirberg and Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz have split time in the second and third courts for the Tars. 

De Fraia and Nicolas-Ruiz combine to form the No. 8 doubles team in the South Region, and have earned a 4-3 record so far in 2018.  Atakan Gezer and Ziad Melhaoui have gone 2-1 as a team this season.  The duo is 1-1 in the second position, and 1-0 in the third spot. 

The Clippers broke into the most recent ITA National Rankings, coming in at No. 25.  The Clippers have opened the year with wins over St. Thomas Aquinas and Fairleigh Dickinson. 

Eymeric Chevalier leads the Clippers in singles play.  The junior is the 30th ranked singles player by player on the East Region.  He is joined in the regional rankings by teammates Alessandro Evangelisti, No. 4, and William Nilsson, No. 10. 

Evangelista and Chevalier team up in double play to form the No. 8 partnership in the nation.  The two are 1-0 together on the year.  Nilsson and Axel Oljons are 2-0 in the second position for the Clippers, and make up the No. 7 team in the East Region 

Wayne State ventures to Florida after back-to-back wins over Hillsdale and Northwestern Ohio.  The Warriors will face Division I James Madison to begin their Florida run, before turning their attention to the Tars. 

Mats Westkamp leads the singles contingent for the Warriors, ranking as the No. 11 player in the Midwest Region.  The sophomore from Germany is 6-1 on the year, playing all his matches out of the first position.  Joining him in the poll is No. 19 Griffin Mertz, who is 6-2 in second and third court action. 

Westkamp and Taylor Vane form the top doubles pair for the Warriors.  The two are 6-2 on the year, playing exclusively out of the top spot.  Mertz and Harvey Reed are 7-1 in the second spot.

The Tars head west for a quartet of games in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Rollins will be facing No. 19 Hawaii Pacific, No. 20 Midwestern State, No. 23 St. Mary's, and Hawaii Hilo on the road trip.
