No. 13 Embry-Riddle – 6
WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 28, 2018) – The No. 40 Tars struggled in doubles play, and were unable to make up the difference in singles action, falling to No. 13 Embry-Riddle 6-3 in a Sunshine State Conference match. With the defeat Rollins drops to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in the SSC. The Eagles move to 10-4, and 3-2 in conference play.
Rollins suffered a sweep in doubles action, falling behind 3-0. Nicolo De Fraia and Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz, the No. 7 doubles duo in the nation, fell to Embry-Riddles team of Rodolfo Arreygue and Andres Donayre, the No. 4 team in the country, 8-5.
The Tars and the Eagles split singles action, however, Embry-Riddle took the first two matches to clinch the team win. Frederick Danielson picked up the Tars' first point with a straight set win in the sixth position, defeating Mickael Faucher 6-4, 6-4. Cody Gubin picked up another victory for Rollins, taking the fifth court match in three sets, 7-6 (6), 2-6, 11-9. De Fraia won a top-50 match in the first spot, picking up Rollins' third point. The Cagliari, Italy native, who is ranked No. 32 in singles by the ITA, defeated No. 50 Juan Ortiz Couder in a three set marathon, 6-7 (8), 6-2, 10-7.
After one week off the Tars will head west to take on No. 4 Saint Leo, as the continue SSC play. First serve against the Lions is set for Wednesday, April 4, at 3 p.m.
