Rollins Blanks Davenport at USTA National Campus

ORLANDO, Fla. (February 24, 2019) – Rollins remained perfect on the year, picking up a 7-0 win over Davenport at the USTA National Campus.  The Tars improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Panthers falls to 2-3 on the season.

The Tars swept the doubles match to earn the point.  The No. 17 pair of Ziad Melhaoui and Gai Feigin got Rollins started with a dominating 6-1 first court win.  Nicolo De Fraia and Frederick Danielson cruised in the second position, winning 6-2.  Atakan Gezer and Andrea Brignacca completed the sweep with a 6-4 third spot win.  The doubles win was the first of Brignacca's collegiate career. 

Melhaoui picked up his second win of the day to start singles play for the Tars.  Ranked as the No. 21 player in the nation, the senior easily downed Bulmer, the No. 20 player in the Midwest Region, 6-0, 6-2.  Daniel Ferl tallied his first win of the year in the sixth position, cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 victory.  De Fraia clichéd the overall win for Rollins, putting the Tars up 4-0, with a 6-1, 6-1, top court, win.  Brignacca picked up a straight set win, 6-4, 6-1 to complete his day.  Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz stayed perfect on the year, tallying a 7-5, 6-2 win in the second singles spot.  Gezer would complete the shutout with a three set win, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, in the fourth position. 

Rollins will return to the court on Wednesday, February 27, when they take on No. 15 Flagler.  First serve is set for 3 p.m.
