WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2019) – Rollins started Spring Break with a convincing upset win over No. 22 Ferris State. The Tars downed the Bulldogs 5-2 on the Bert Martin Tennis Courts. Rollins improves to 8-2 on the year. Ferris State opens their Florida trip by falling to 2-5.
The Tars swept the double play, earning the point from the three matches. Ziad Melhaoui and Anrdea Brignacca started the match with a 6-3 win in the top double spot. Nicolo De Fraia and Frederick Danielson cruised to a 6-1 win in the second position. Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz and Atakan Gezer completed the Tars' doubles dominance with a 6-3 third court win.
De Fraia dominated the No. 8 player in the Midwest Region, Stew Sell, earning a 6-1, 6-2 top court win to begin singles play. Brignacca, put the Tars on the brink of victory and improved to 8-2 on the year with a straight set, fifth spot, win, 6-1, 6-4. Gezer officially put the Tars in the win column with a 6-3, 7-5 victory in the fourth position. Nicolas-Ruiz added Rollins fifth point with a 6-3, 7-5 win on the second court.
The Tars return to the court on Wednesday, March 13, when they face Bluefield State. First serve is scheduled 11 a.m.
