MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 19, 2019) – Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz picked up his second career Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Award, conference officials announced Monday.

Nicolas-Ruiz finished the week with a perfect record, going 2-0 in singles action, and 3-0 in doubles play, with partner Atakan Gezer. In the Tars upset of No. 22 Ferris State the senior defeated Nur Ramdani Iswan, the No. 19 player in the Midwest Region, in the second singles position, and picked up a 6-3 win in the third doubles spot. Against Bluefield State Nicolas-Ruiz downed the No. 7 singles player in the country, Arthur Figuiere, with a dominant 6-1, 6-4 performance, he also took a 6-2 doubles decision. The Villanueva de la Cañada, Spain native then capped his Spring Break with a 6-2 doubles victory against Northwood.
Overall, the Tars earned a 3-0 record on the week, picking up 5-2, 4-1, and 4-0 wins over No. 22 Ferris State, Bluefield State, and Northwood respectively. Rollins improved to 10-2 overall during the 2019 campaign.
The Tars face Florida National on Wednesday, March 20, at 3 p.m. Rollins will then venture back into the SSC gauntlet with a visit to Florida Tech.
