Tars Jump Into National Ranks

TEMPE, Ariz. (March 20, 2019) – The Tars men's tennis team jumped into the national rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released today.  Rollins, who had received votes in the last poll, release on February 20, jumped into the ranks at No. 15.  The Tars also had two players jump into the ITA National Singles Rankings.  Nicolo De Fraia settled at No. 31, while Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz enters the poll at No. 68.

The Tars have started the year, 10-2 overall, with wins over Division I opponents Army West Point, and Mount St. Mary's.  The Tars also defeated two nationally ranked teams, No. 15 Flagler, who jumped to No. 6 in the most recent rankings, and No. 22 Ferris State, as they earned their jump into the top-15.

De Fraia sits at 12-0 in singles action, playing exclusively in the number one court.  During his undefeated run the senior has taken down one nationally ranked foe and three regionally ranked opponents.

Nicolas-Ruiz sits at 10-2 on the year, going 10-1 on the second court, and 0-1 in the first.  He has tallied one win over nationally ranked foes and two against those ranked in their regions.

The Tars will return to SSC action next time out.  Rollins will visit Florida Tech on Saturday, March 23, with first serve scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
