Tars Hold Nationally at No. 12

TEMPE, Ariz. (April 3, 2019) – The Tars held steady at the No. 12 spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings, the organization released today.  Nicolo De Fraia skied back into the singles poll, jumping to No. 20.  On the back of a string of recent impressive performances, the doubles partnership of Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca represents Rollins in the doubles poll, at No. 38.

Rollins split a pair of contests last week, defeating No. 50 Embry-Riddle 6-1 before falling to No. 1 Barry by the same score.  The Tars currently sit at 13-3 overall, and 2-2 in Sunshine State Conference action.

De Fraia stayed unbeaten, moving to 15-0 in top court action, with a pair of wins last week.  The senior downed Andres Donayre from the Eagles 6-2, 7-6(5) to open the week.  The Cagliari, Italy native then upset No. 3 Pierre Montrieul, earning the Tars lone point against Barry, with a 7-6(10), 6-4 win.

Melhaoui and Brignacca have joined forces to earn a 3-1 record in the top doubles position.  The pair highlighted Rollins' doubles efforts against the Bucs, defeating the No. 16 nationally ranked team of Montrieul and Bayldon.

Barry held onto the top position, with Saint Leo, No. 4, and Lynn, No. 8, representing the SSC in the top-10.  The Tars sit at No. 12, while Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern round out the conference's contingent.

For their next contest the Tars venture outside the SSC for the last time this season.  Rollins will host No. 10 West Florida on Sunday, April 7, with first serve set for 11 a.m.
