Tars Fall Just Short in Top-15 Contest

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 7, 2019) – Rollins could not down No. 10 West Florida, falling 4-2, on their final non-conference action of the season.  The No. 12 Tars fall to 13-4 on the year, while the Argos improve to 14-5 on the year.

Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca, the No. 38 doubles pair in the country, started the match with a win, but the Tars were unable to take an important doubles point.  The duo took down the No. 40 team of Bojadjiev and Galvao in convincing, 6-2, fashion.  However, Rollins would fall on the second and third courts, giving the Argos the 1-0 advantage.

Gai Feigin equalized the overall score, capturing the first singles decision with a 6-1, 6-1 win on the fourth court.  Nicolo De Fraia highlighted the match for the Tars, improving to 16-0 with a dominating first court win.  The senior, and the No. 20 player in the nation, downed the No. 5 player in the country, West Florida's Bojadjiev, 6-4, 6-0.  Rollins clould not maintain the momentum however, as the Argos took the next three points to clinch the match at 4-2.  Atakan Gezer was winning his third position match when the contest was called.

The Tars return to Sunshine State Conference action when they host Eckerd on Tuesday, April 9.  First serve against the Tritons is set for 3 p.m.
