Rollins Closes Season in Lakeland

No. 16 Rollins (15-5, 4-3 SSC) vs. No. 36 Florida Southern (9-11, 3-4 SSC)

WHEN:
Wednesday, April 17, 2019 – 3:00 p.m. 

SET-UP:
The Tars will look end their 2019 regular season on a positive note when they take the trip down I-4 to take on the Florida Southern Mocs.  Rollins has won back-to-back matches, downing No. 23 Palm Beach Atlantic last time out.  With a win in Lakeland the Tars will reach their highest win total since 2012.  The Tars currently sit fourth in the Sunshine State Conference, and still have a lot to play for with postseason play on the horizon. 

WHO TO WATCH:
Rollins:
The Tars currently 83-28 overall in singles action.  Nicolo De Fraia sits at No. 13 in the country, winning both his matches last week to improve to 18-1, playing exclusively in the top position.  The Cagliari, Italy native has also earned three wins over nationally ranked foes.  Guillermo De Nicolas-Ruiz sits at 14-3 playing predominantly out of the second position.  Atakan Gezer has compiled a 16-1 record, seeing action in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth positions.  The sophomore is 6-1 against SSC opposition. The pair of Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca continued to move up the National Doubles Rankings.  The pair sit at 5-1 overall on the season, and at No. 19 in the country. 

Florida Southern:
The Mocs have picked up wins against Eckerd and Florida Tech in their last two matches.  They are sixth in the SSC standings and jumped up two spots in the latest ITA National Rankings.  Tim Becker has seen most of the top court action for the Mocs.  The sophomore is 6-6 from the spot, and 7-10 overall.  Brian Pham leads Florida Southern with nine wins this season, while Lennart Vossgaetter is 8-1.  Overall, the Mocs are 55-61 in sinlges action.  Becker and Pham have been the only consistent doubles presence for Florida Southern this season.  The duo are 6-5 overall, and one of 25 different doubles pairs that have seen action for the Mocs. 

UP NEXT:
The Tars will wait to learn their SSC Tournament fate.  The event will begin on Friday, April 26, in Bradenton, Florida, on the campus of IMG Academy.
