Tars Hold Steady in National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. (April 24, 2019) – The Tars stayed put at No. 10 in the ITA National Team Rankings this week.  Nicolo De Fraia moved up three spots in the singles poll, matching his highest ranking of the season at No. 13, while the pair of Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca also settle at No. 13 in the country, in doubles.

The Tars ended their 2019 regular season with a 6-1 win over No. 36 Florida Southern last time out.  The Tars will now enter the Sunshine State Conference Tournament as the fourth seed, at 16-5 overall, and 5-3 in SSC play.

Nicolo De Fraia has won three straight singles matches, and currently sits at 19-1 on the year, all out of the first position.  The senior has defeated three nationally ranked opponents, and is 7-1 in SSC play.

Melhaoui and Brignacca are 5-2 on the year, playing in the top doubles spot.  The pair are 3-0 against other nationally ranked pairs.

Barry, at No. 2, Saint Leo, at No. 9, and Rollins, at No. 10, sit as the Sunshine State Conference contingent in the top-10.  Lynn is just outside at No. 12.  Palm Beach Atlantic, Embry-Riddle, and Florida Southern are all also featured; the Sailfish at No. 25, the Eagles at No. 31, and the Mocs at No. 43.

Fourth-seeded Rollins faces fifth-seeded Embry-Riddle in the first round of the SSC Tournament on Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m.  The event is being held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
