Tars Come Up Short Against Top-Seeded Bucs

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 27, 2019) – Despite some close battles, the fourth-seeded Tars were unable to find a victory, falling 4-0, to the top-seeded Barry Bucs in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament semifinals.  Rollins moves onto the third place game at 17-6 overall, while Barry progresses to the SSC Championship match with a record of 19-1.

The Bucs took the first two doubles decisions, clinching the point.  Rollins fought in the first and third spots but could not overcome Barry.  The second court match went unfinished, as neither team could separate from each other.

Rollins could not mount a comeback, dropping the first three singles matches.  Rollins fell on the third, fourth, and fifth courts.  The Tars were on the wrong side of tiebreakers in the first, fifth, and sixth positions.  Nicolo De Fraia was tied in his second set, and Andrea Brignacca led in his when the match was clinched.

UP NEXT:
Rollins will face third-seed Saint Leo in the third place match tomorrow, Sunday, April 28.  First serve is set for 9 a.m.
