No. 10 Tars Fall to No. 7 Argos in NCAA Tourney

VALDOSTA, Ga. (May 11, 2019) – The 10th-ranked Rollins men's tennis team had its season come to an end Saturday, falling to seventh-ranked West Florida 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.   

After making their 53rd NCAA Tournament appearance, the Tars close 2019 with a 18-7 overall record.  West Florida improves to 21-6 on the year, and will face host Valdosta State in the second round. 

The Argos took the doubles point to get started. The Tars Ziad Melhaoui and Gai Feigin took a 6-1 loss against Serdar Bojadijiev and Vitinho Galvoa in the No. 1 spot. Andrea Brignacca and Atakan Gezer fell to Juan Cabrera and Lucas Sanchez 6-4 at No. 3. 

West Florida went up 2-0 with a win in the No. 4 singles match as Gezer lost to Robin Rafaitin 6-1, 6-2. Fredrick Danielson dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Pedro Cordeiro in the No. 6 spot before the skies opened up and halted play. UWF then took the win with Feigin retiring in the No. 3 match. 

The loss concludes the Tars 2019 campaign.
