Tars End 2019 at No. 11 in ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. (May 29, 2019) – Rollins men's tennis enjoyed a resurgence during the 2019 campaign, and the final ITA National Rankings, released today, show such.  A number of Tars feature among the nation's best, as the team itself sits at No. 11.  Nicolo De Fraia ends his collegiate career as the No. 8 singles player in Division II, while the partnership of Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca come it at No. 19 in the national doubles list.

Rollins, prior to ending the year at No. 11, earned the 53rd NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament berth in program history this season.  However, the Tars could not upset the third seeded West Florida Argos in the first round.  Rollins captured third place in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.  Overall, the Tars end 2019 at 18-7.

De Fraia, who end the season at No. 8 in the ITA Singles Rankings, played exclusively in the first singles position for Rollins this season, tallying a 20-1 overall record against some of the nation's toughest competition.  He went 7-1 in Sunshine State Conference action, 4-1 against nationally ranked players, and 6-1 against regionally ranked opposition.  The senior has seen his lis of accomplishments grow this season, earning one SSC Player of the Week Award, First Team All-SSC Singles and Second Team All-SSC Doubles honors, SSC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Year accolades, and the ITA South Region Senior Player of the Year Award.

Melhaoui and Brignacca end the 2019 season as the No. 19 duo in the country.  The pair are 5-4 on the year, playing in the first doubles spot for Rollins.  The pair defeated three ranked teams, while facing on of the most grueling doubles schedules in the nation.
