MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 8, 2018) – The Tars men's cross country team was up early Saturday, running in the Florida Tech Invitational.

Rollins posted a sixth-place finish at the event, hosted by FIT at Wickham Park in Melbourne. Tampa won the team trophy with Nova Southeastern taking second.

Newcomer Ryan King made a splash in his first collegiate race, leading the Tars with a 46th place finish in a time of 32:01. Jack Gabriel was 49th in 33:26.

Luke Parsley shaved two minute off his opening week time and finished 54th in 36:29. Aaron Villanueva was on his heels in 55th (37:46). Cameron Meehan finished 55th with a time of 40:06 and Parker Smith took 56th in 41:35.

"I could not be prouder of these guys after the second race this season," said Interim Head Coach Nate Weyant. "Ryan had a great first college run to set the tone moving forward. Luke dropped huge minutes from last week; Jack and Aaron posted great times as well. It's awesome to have Cam and Parker working so hard and they should be excited about the rest of the season."

Rollins is right back on the course Sept. 15 at the Embry-Riddle Asics Invitational in Daytona Beach; the host course for the regular-season ending Sunshine State Conference Championship.
