Rollins XC Heads up I-4 to Embry-Riddle

SCHEDULE:
Men's: Saturday, September 21 | 7:20 a.m. | Daytona Beach, Fla. (Embry-Riddle University)
Women's: Saturday, September 21 | 7:50 a.m. | Daytona Beach, Fla. (Embry-Riddle University)

SET UP:
Rollins travels to Daytona Beach, Florida for the 2019 Asics Classic. The Tars last raced at the on-campus venue at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championships. The men's team will start the race with an 8K on Saturday at 7:20, followed by the women's 5K at 7:50. The course is widely known to be one of the more challenging in Florida with different surfaces and a very large hill. Rollins came back from the Mountain Dew Invitational last week where they again turned in top times and will look to build on that performance.

WHO TO WATCH:
The men's team will feature two new freshman in Justin Mahant and Joshua Perez joining an already veteran group. For the second race of the season Ryan King lead the Tars on the course at the Mt. Dew Invitational last week,. placing 236th with a time of 31:32.9. Jack Gabriel returns after a week off as the senior will tackle the course at ERAU for a final time.

The women's team posted more great times last week in Gainesville. Freshman Nicole Rodriquez-Martinez was the first Tar to cross the finish line two weeks in a row, this time with a clocking of 23:49.5. Freshman Natasha Kusibab finished with a time of 23:52.2.

WHAT COACH SAYS:
"We are coming off some good performances at UF last week, so I'm hoping we can keep the momentum going. The athletes are in the midst of heavy training, so to be able to run well tomorrow on a tough course despite feeling a little fatigued would be a sign that we are moving in the right direction."

NEXT:
The Tars will travel to Oviedo, Fla. for the Seminole State College at 6 p.m. for the Seminole State Invite.
