After a week off, Rollins is back in action this Saturday for the 2019 regular season finale. The team travels down I-4 to the ESPN Wide World of Sports to compete in the Disney classic at this world class athletic complex. The men's team will compete first in the 8K race starting at 7:40 a.m., the women's 5k race will follow, beginning at 8:25 a.m.
WHO TO WATCH:
The men's team put up great 5k times in Oviedo, Fla at the Inaugural Seminole State Invitational. Jack Gabriel blazed the path for the Tars, finishing top 20, with a time of 18:03. Ryan King was not far behind with a time of 18:17. Justin Mahant (19:25) and Eric Grimm (22:16) rounded out the Tars top runners..
The women's team posted more great times piggybacking off their success in Oviedo a couple weeks ago. Sophomore Natasha Kusibab led the way for the Tars with a time of 23:44. This time marks a new personal best for Kusibab. Sophomore, Anna Belle Warren crossed the finish line with a new personal best, finishing with a time of 24:49. Kerstin Carroll finished with a time of 25:29 and Laura Tobin was not far behind her teammate crossing the finish line with a time of 25:35.
WHAT COACH SAYS:
"Both the men's and women's teams have been looking forward to this race all season. It should be an energetic environment and a course that is conducive to fast times. My hope is that we come away from this meet with the confidence we need for the conference championships in just two weeks."- Kaylyn Christopher
The Tars will take a week off before traveling to the Sunshine State Conference in Boca Raton, Fla. October 26. The race will begin at 7:45 a.m.
