Tars Compete in First SAISA Regatta of 2018

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (September 24, 2018) –Tars were up early in Coral Gables for a full day of racing against conference rivals on the beautiful waters of Key Biscayne where the South Atlantic Sailing Association (SAISA) held its first points-regatta of the year.

University of Miami hosted the event featuring eight of Florida's top collegiate sailing programs.

In steady breezes, and under the backdrop of the Miami skyline, the Tars competed in 16 races and finished in 5th place or better seven times.

The Tars were led by skippers Teagan Walsh, Nick Baker and Harrison Fang and ably crewed by Ryan O'Donnell, Simon Munoz and Maggie Burns.

Coach Herbster said of his squad, "We're working hard to become more of a presence in our conference, and there was a lot to like in our effort in Miami."

Points earned in the competition will help determine which schools qualify for the conference championship at the end of October.

Up next for Rollins is the SAISA South Points #3 regatta, on September 29, when the Tars will faceoff with conference rivals at Jacksonville University in the strong currents of the St. Johns River.
