The Tars are prepared to start conference play against Sunshine State Conference rival, No. 23, Saint Leo in their home opener.  The Tars finally make their way back to Winter Park after opening the year at the Gulf Coast Invitational, and spending last weekend at the South/Southeast Regional Crossover in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Tars are coming off a road win against Flagler College, which gave the Tars a doubleheader split.  Early in the year the Tars have upset No. 11 Lee and pushed Delta State and No. 7 North Georgia to extra innings, but came up short on both occasions.

Senior Chandler Middlebrook is leading the team batting .444 followed by Junior Jordan Davis with .345 average.  Middlebrook is pacing the SSC with 11 RBI on the season, three more than next closer player.  She has also drawn four walks and leads the team with a .516 OBP.  Middlebrook, Brianne Lint and Tayler Holt have each put the ball over the fence for the Tars once this season.  Davis leads the team with seven steals, while sophomore Sarah Harrison has swiped four bags and has yet to be caught.

All the Tars pitchers have now made appearances with Erin Crawford coming in during the first game of the double header against Flagler this past weekend.  Abby Summers is leading the Tars with seven appearances and six starts.  The junior has struck out 37 batters over her 37.2 innings.  Grace Street picked up a save in the Tars win over Flagler last time out.

Saint Leo is coming off six game win streak, where they swept Young Harris this past weekend. The Lions sat a top the SSC in the preseason poll, and are top among conference schools, at No. 23 in the NFCA National Rankings.

Saint Leo is batting .321 through their first nine games, second highest average in the SSC.  Kacie Kelly leads the Lions, and sits third in the conference, with a .484 average, while tallying five doubles and eight RBI.  Ashley Morris is right behind her teammate with a .448 average.  Shyanne DuBois is batting .348, while leading the team with five steals in five attempts.

The Lions have sent four pitchers to the mound this season, who have combined for a 2.33 ERA.  Alison Mounts has maintained a 0.83 ERA on her way to a perfect 4-0 record.  The senior has struck out 23 in 25.1 innings, and been a part of five shutout performances.

  • Abigail Sexton and Jordan Davis sit second and third in the SSC in runs scored.
  • After hitting her first homerun of the season last weekend, Brianne Lint needs just four more to break into Rollin stop-10 all-time.
  • Michelle Frew is 774-331-1, and ranks as the 16th winningest active coach in Division II.

Rollins will prepare to host a midweek doubleheader against last season's East Super Regional competitor, Adelphi, before returning to SSC play over the weekend with a trip to Tampa.
