SET-UP:
The Tars are coming off their home and Sunshine State Conference opening series against No. 23 Saint Leo.  Rollins rebounded from a game one defeat to best the Lions in both games of a Saturday doubleheader to take the series two games to one.  All three games were back and forth, with the rubber match going into extra innings.  Rollins will now turn their attention to Adelphi.  The Panthers open their 2018 season in Florida after reaching the East Super Regional in 2017.  Rollins will then return to SSC action with a visit to Tampa for a three game set with the Spartans.  Finally, Rollins will conclude the week by hosting a doubleheader against Kentucky State.

TRACKING THE TARS:
Rollins has gotten contributions from all over the lineup this season.  Chandler Middlebrook and Abigail Sexton have each tallied 11 RBI, good for second most in the conference.  Jordan Davis is pacing the Tars with a .385 batting average.  Brianne Lint leads the Tars in on base percentage, .436, and slugging percentage, .576.  Five Tars have sent the ball over wall this season, with Grace Street and Lint tied for the team lead at two a piece.

Abby Summers, Street, and Erin Crawford have all seen time in the circle for Rollins on the year.  Summers leads the team 10 appearances, four wins, and 45 strikeouts.  Street has compiled a 1-2 record in three starts and 28.1 innings pitched.

TRACKING THE PANTHERS:
Adelphi was tabbed as the top team in the Southwest Division of the NE10 in the preseason polls.  However, the panthers have stumbled out of the gate, dropping contests to St. Mary's and Flagler.

Brenna Martini has been named to the NFCA National Player of the Year Watchlist.  The senior is a two time NFCA All-American, and led the nation with a 1.027 slugging percentage last season.  She has already tallied a homerun and two RBI in 2018.

Adelphi sent three pitchers to the circle over their two games.  Kristen Fealy and Ally Muller each got one start, and each have a 0-1 record.  Jessica Vadala has thrown 1.1 scoreless frames.

TRACKING THE SPARTANS:
The Spartans took two of three from the Florida Southern Mocs last time out, opening SSC play with a series win.  Tampa was selected to finish second to Saint Leo in the conference's preseason poll.

Sophomore catcher Maddie Farrell leads the Spartans, driving in six runs over the team's 11 games.  Tampa has tallied 16 extra base hits, led by Sahrina Cortes with three doubles, and Shelby Press with two doubles and a triple.

Makaleigh Dooley has seen most of the action in the circle for the Spartans.  The junior has made 10 appearances and eight starts, earning a 2.33 ERA.  The Tampa, Florida native holds a 5-5 record and 8 complete games.

TRACKING THE THOROBREDS:
Last time out Kentucky State was swept by Spring Hill College in SIAC play.  The Badgers outscored the Thorobreds 16-2 over the three game set.

Junior Jittaun Thompson and senior Brittney Gately lead the Kentucky State offense.  Thompson led the team, in 2017, in batting average, RBI, doubles and homeruns.  Gately led the team in on base percentage, helped by 32 walks, and maintained a .988 fielding percentage in the infield.

Casey Grant, Paola Flores, and Chante Thome have all seen time in the circle for Kentucky State in the young season.

NOTES:

  • The Spartans took two of three from the Tars in Winter Park last season, to kick off Rollins' home schedule.
  • Rollins downed Kentucky State last season 9-1 and 4-1 in doubleheader action.
  • Michelle Frew is 776-332-1, and ranks as the 16th winningest active coach in Division II.

NEXT:
Rollins continues SSC play on Friday, March 2, when they kick off a three game, home, series against Palm Beach Atlantic.
