MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 26, 2018) – Junior Grace Street has been named the Sunshine State Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced. This is Street's first career Pitcher of the Week Award.
Street appeared in four games for the Tars last week, earning three wins. The Tampa, Florida native compiled 20.2 innings pitched, allowing just 11 hits and one run.
Street started the week with a complete game shutout win over 2017 Super Regional competitor Adelphi, in which she struck out four. She followed that up with 2.1 scoreless relief innings in the Tars' series opener against Tampa. In game two against the Spartans Street got the start and went the distance, giving up just three hits, and striking out eight in another shutout win. Finally, the Freedom High School graduate, earned her third win in the rubber match of the Tars' three game set in Tampa. She came in in relief, and pitched the final six innings of the 11 inning marathon, surrendering just one run on two hits.
For the season Street is 4-2 in the circle with 49 innings pithced. She has tallied 40 strikeouts and has maintained a 2.29 ERA.
Rollins will return to action this Friday, March 2, when they host the No. 18 Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
