Tars Face Vital SSC Series With Embry-Riddle

The Tars rose one spot in the national rankings, to No. 23, despite taking only one game against No. 10 Florida Tech last time out.  The Tars will now welcome another Sunshine State Conference foe to Rollins Softball Stadium in the form of the Embry-Riddle Eagles.  The Tars need to continue their impressive play as they hope to solidify a postseason resume. 

The Tars pace the SSC with a team batting average of .302 and 309 hits.  Jordan Davis is running away with league's batting average lead, hitting .533 on the year, with a SSC leading 39 steals. Lindsay Gehring is third in the conference with a .396 batting average, and is tied for second with eight homeruns, and alone in second with 34 RBI.  Talia Kentoffio and Ashley Worrell have also had solid seasons at the plate.  Worrell leads the team with 12 doubles and 17 extra base hits while Kentoffio has maintained a .345 batting average. 

Worrell leads the Tars with 22 appearances and 135.1 innings.  The freshman has tallied a 17-4 record, with 17 complete games.  Abby Summers is 10-1 on the year, with 128 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA.  Grace Street has seen action in the circle 10 times, while recording a 1.02 ERA. 

The Eagles took two out of three against the Palm Beach Atlantic Eagles last time out. Embry-Riddle are second in the conference with a .299 batting average, and led by four batters hitting over the .300 mark.  Katy Thompson leads the way with a .349 batting average and eight doubles.  Mariana Pereira sits second at .340 and leads the team with a .450 on base percentage.  Maggie Scott is batting .337, while Micky Ramos rounds lout the list with a .333 and a team leading 20 RBI. 

Lisa Hop and Jayla Jackson share the majority of the pitching duties for the Eagles.  Hop has tallied a 2.80 ERA, and a 8-11 record in 24 appearances.  Jackson has struck out 102 while earning a 10-6 mark in 22 starts. 

The Tars leave Winter Park for the final time this campaign, as they go on the road to face Nova Southeastern in a three game series.  The first pitch of game one is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.
