ZACHARY, La. (October 22, 2017) – Behind individual tricks championships from Erika Lang and Dorien Llewellyn, the Rollins water ski team combined for a fifth-place finish at the 2017 NCWSA National Championship.
The Tars have now placed fifth each of the last four seasons and did so without one of the nation's best skiers in Josh Briant, who was sidelined with injury.
Louisiana Monroe won the team title with 12,165 points, followed by Louisiana Lafayette, Alabama and Florida Southern.
Overall, Llewellyn tied for second place in the men's individual standings. The junior won tricks with a score of 6,170, beating ULM's Danylo Filchenko by 100 points. He was seventh in jumps and 16th in slalom.
The trio combined to take fifth of 12 teams in the men's division.
Lang won her third national championship in tricks, with a pending national collegiate record score of 6,110. The mark betters her score of 5,960 set at the 2015 championship. The senior also tied for sixth in slalom.
Natalia Cuglievan was runner-up in tricks, posting a score of 4,500.
Jenna Morgan tied for 10th in the overall individual standings, taking 10th in tricks, 34th in slalom and 15th in jumps. Emma Morgan was right behind in 11th, placing 13th in both tricks and jumps while taking 35th in slalom.
Slivia Zarrate tied for 17th in slalom, took 24th in tricks and 25th in jumps to place 12th in the overall standings.
